About the Artist
Jennifer Grubba was born in Townsville Qld and has spent the last 10 years in Brisbane. Jennifer moved to NW Tasmania in 2021 after 10 years of working on the emergency phone line for Queensland Police. Retiring due to PTSD from the role. She has recently relocated to Stanley where she is setting up her own gallery space and letting her art do all her talking these days.
Jennifer describes her artwork as her therapy, the simplicity of wire and a pair of pliers and being able to create something with so much movement from nothing. After being diagnosed with PTSD, Severe Social Anxiety, OCD and Agrophobia and Depression she found peace in her sculptures and began creating her own world.
Every piece is made by hand, twisted meticulously for many hours making every piece one of a kind. Jennifer does not attempt to replicate a piece so that what you have in unique to you. She often has her own story to a piece, and loves hearing when someone else connects to it and finds their own meaning.
Jennifer and her husband Mathew have fallen in love with Tasmania and have found it the perfect location for her to heal and escape the pace and the horrors she was privy to in her role with Police. Out of her adversity and healing has come these whimsical creations and a whole new life for them.
