Wynyard and Surrounds - Get Closer

Get Closer to charming seaside towns surrounded by a tapestry of rich and colourful landscapes, indulgent coastal pleasures and the stunning Tarkine Wilderness.

Wynyard and the surrounding areas are all about colour and nature.  Whether it’s the tulips in bloom in Spring, the magical fungi in Autumn, the misty winter landscapes or the turquoise blue beaches in Summer – Wynyard and Surrounds has something unique to surprise and delight  you all year round.

It’s hard to imagine something being too beautiful – but whether it is the majestic Table Cape with tulip fields in full bloom, or the stunning moon-shaped turquoise bay of Boat Harbour Beach – you’ll be astounded by the diversity of nature’s picture-postcards in our perfect patch of paradise.

An easy day trip - the towns of Waratah and Corinna offer access to the Tarkine Wilderness. Imagine being immersed in a land of ancient rainforests and waterfalls - wild, mysterious, and breathtakingly beautiful.

You are also spoilt for choice of romantic coastal escapes – be alone with nature or connect with family and friends. Try one of the many coastal walking trails, or relax on the beach at sunset enjoying fine local cuisine.

Wynyard explodes with colour and life for Wynyard Tulip Festival – held on the second Saturday in October each year. (Note: Festival has been cancelled for 2020, however a series of smaller events from 25 September to 15 October will be held instead). Take a tour of the historic lighthouse, view our Fairy Penguins and Giant Freshwater Lobsters, or unearth locally made treasures at one of our many art and craft markets.
